2008 Floral Design Curriculum 

Basic Design 1 (BD1)

This class will study the care of flowers, pricing for profit, the elements and principles of design and theory, design mechanics, wiring and taping, bow making and general shop management. 

Basic Design 2 (BD2)

This week you will work on sympathy tributes: casket sprays, baskets, set pieces, etc. Continuing with wedding design: hand-tied bouquets, bouquet holders, corsages and the wedding consultation.  

Individuals with no professional training (in shop as a professional designer or professional floral design school) must complete Basic Design 1 before taking Basic Design 2. Once an individual has completed Basic Design 1 then he or she may attend any program offered by the Vermont Academy of Floral Designs.

Floral Design Short Course 2008

The Floral Design Short Course is part of our Basic Design 1 program but will include  only the first three days. The topics covered will include: Care & Handling of Flowers, Pricing, Theory of Design. Hands-on studio time will include one-sided designs and all around designs. 

Advanced Design 2008

Moving beyond the basic design concepts each element will be explored in much greater detail, allowing designers to add new dimensions to any design style they are working with regardless if it is classical or contemporary in form.

European Design 2008

Contemporary European Styles of design and design techniques will be studied in this class. Break away from the classical or traditional styles and explore the wonderful world of floral art.

Sanctuary of Blooms

Public workshop for individuals who work with church flowers or wants to help do flowers in their church. Go to our Home Page under 'Ministry of Flowers.'
