2012 Floral Design CurriculumVermont residents may be eligible for 'Non-Degree Grants' from the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation...see our 'General Information' page.New Weekend Certificate Program THE ART OF NATURAL DESIGN is a new two-day, intense hands-on design workshop being offered at the Vermont Academy. This program will focus on lines, color, mechanics and design techniques for creating natural looking designs. Prior design experience is not required to attend this program. Tuition $295.00 BASIC FLORAL DESIGN 1 (BFD 1&2) is a two week program that covers the three major areas of the floral industry: basic floral design, sympathy tributes and wedding designs. Program include lectures, demonstrations and hands-on studio time. Classes run 9am - 5pm Monday through Friday for two consecutive weeks. Tuition $995.00 BASIC FLORAL DESIGN 1 (BFD 1) This first week program covers the basic elements and principles of design, pricing, theory of design and shop management concepts. Tuition $575.00 Basic Floral DESIGN Short Course This option covers the first three days of any Basic Floral Design 1 program. Tuition $385.00 Basic Floral DESIGN 2 (BFD 2) * This second week program starts with sympathy tributes on Monday and Tuesday and continues with wedding designs Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Tuition $575.00 Basic Funeral Short * This program option covers only the funeral portion of any Basic Floral Design 2 class on Monday and Tuesday. Tuition $275.00 Basic Wedding Short Course * This program covers the last three days of any Basic Floral Design 2 program, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Tuition $385.00 Advanced Design * Advanced Wedding * This is a new two day program. Tuition $350.00 Students must have completed Basic Floral Design 1 or have flower shop experience. * Individuals who have not had professional floral design training or worked in a flower shop as a professional designer must complete Basic Floral Design 1 before taking Basic Floral Design 2. Once an individual has completed Basic Floral Design 1 then he or she may attend any program offered by the Vermont Academy of Floral Designs.*Liturgical Floral Design Public workshop for individuals who work with church flowers or wants to help do flowers in their church, no prior training is required. Public programs or workshops are not certificate programs.
